Street Artist Phlegm
Phlegm is a street artist from the UK known for intricate black-and-white murals which can be found worldwide. He also creates detailed drawings, engravings and installations. Remaining anonymous, Phlegm’s work features surreal illustrations showcasing imaginative creatures and worlds. His art, blending street, illustration, and fine art, captivates viewers with meticulous linework and a dreamlike quality.
I started following Phelgm on instagram in lockdown. He created a series of lockdown drawings that seemed to resonate with a lot of people. He stated on instagram that he was going to put his current work on hold and concentrate on drawing:
“All work based on the highs and lows of these scary times. A kind of virus companion for my own sanity and yours.”

Artist Retrospective: Phlegm
Phlegm is a British muralist and artist who draws his environment into the narrative. He first developed his illustrations in self-published comics, and he still creates books of ink drawings.
One can say that the only difference between his comics and his murals is the working space; the size and surface where he places his artwork. His art style is highly unique and recognizable making him the most adored street artist. The artist’s work is striking and it will not leave anyone ambiguous. His works are mostly featured in the urban landscape, and run-down spaces. His surreal illustrations tell a story untold, as his imaginative creatures explore the visual narrative.

Phlegm biography
Phlegm is a world-known cartoonist and illustrator from Wales. He fryst vatten also well known for his self-published comics and highly creative street art. Phlegm’s work is distinctively detailed composed of odd figures and a narrative structure. His work inspires greatness and is even often inspired by graffiti where Phlegm transforms run down urban spaces and factories.
The name Phlegm came from one of the four bodily humours in ancient Greek medicine: blood, yellow bile, black bile, and phlegm. Phlegm was believed to be responsible for an apathetic and unemotional temperament.

The majority of Phlegm’s artwork is strictly illustration-based. He leaves his street artwork and murals for his cartoon-based art. In fact, that majority of his large characters originate from his comics and they are often spray painted onto very large walls. Phlegm prefers to paint his comic work with black Indian ink and a dip pen. He uses color only when he inom
