  • JERSEY STORY: By picking No. 6, Carlo Lastimosa hopes to live up to proud family name

THEY&#;RE more than mere numbers, and there&#;s more to them than meets the eye.

From important dates in their lives to lucky numbers to a happy coincidence, there&#;s usually a compelling story behind the numbers your favorite players wear on their backs.

And more often that not, these stories will either surprise you or make you feel closer to your sports heroes.

Here&#;s No. 13 of our Jersey Story Series:

COMING from a family of basketball players, Barako Bull sophomore Carlo Lastimosa had an outright choice for a jersey number.

The year old young gun from Cagayan de Oro, after all, is a nephew of PBA great Jojo Lastimosa, who wore jersey No. 6 in his entire professional career.

So it came as no surprise that the former College of St. Benilde star and NCAA Rookie of the Year didn&#;t need to think twice when he decided which jersey number to pick.

  • Carlo Lastimosa

    Filipino basketball player

Carlo Dan Lastimosa (born September 3, ) is a Filipino professional basketball player for the Biñan Tatak Gel of the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League (MPBL) and PSL. He was drafted 20th overall by the Barako Bull in the PBA draft.

    Early life

    [edit]

Lastimosa comes from a family of basketball players. He's the son of former PABL player Danny Lastimosa, brother of the former captain of the UST women's volleyball team, Pamela Lastimosa, and nephew of PBA Legend and three-time Mythical Team awardee, Jojo Lastimosa.[1] It was only natural then that the younger Lastimosa started playing basketball at the young age of five in their family's residence in the city of Cagayan de Oro. Watching his uncle Jolas play professional basketball was a very big influence for Carlo to opt to make a career out of the sport later on and develop an ambition of following his uncle's footsteps by making it good in the PBA someday.[2]
