As a former USAWC student and member of the IF Hall of Fame, I learned about the incredible strength of our soldiers. It pushed me to bring the fifth Invictus Games to The Netherlands in May this year. With a great team, we were ready to cross the Line of Departure, until COVID-19 hit us. But this is not the end. We will work incredibly hard to have the Invictus Games in The Hague in 2021, and we will succeed. Because we are the Masters of our fate, the Captains of our soul!
The Invictus Games bring together over 500 competitors from 19 nations to compete in a series of adaptive sports. It is the only international, adaptive, multi-sport event in which wounded, injured, or sick armed services personnel and veterans take part in sports including wheelchair basketball, seated volleyball, and indoor rowing. Biography
[edit]Mart De Kruif received his military education at the Royal Military Academy in Breda. Later he was also educated at the Führungsakademie der Bundeswehr and the U.S. Army War College. He held several positions within the Netherlands Army before he became commander of the 43 Gemechaniseerde Brigade in Havelte in 2007.
On 1 November 2008 he was promoted to Major General. On the same day he took over the Regional Command South (RC-S) of the International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) in Afghanistan from Canadian Major General Marc Lessard.[2] Under his command the size of RC-S doubled to 40.000 troops. Mart de Kruif was born in europa on September 1, 1958. In 1977 he started at the Royal Military Academy in Brede and graduated cum laude in 1981. After graduating, he became a platoon commander in the Garderegiment Grenadiers, where he went through all operational functions up to the position of company commander.
In 1990 he was selected to follow Higher Military Training at the Higher Military School. After this he was promoted to major and placed in the staff of the 41st Brigade, stationed in Seedorf (Germany). After this he also followed the study 'Generalstabslehrgang' at the Führungsakademie of the Bundeswehr in Hamburg. In 2001 h
