    Ammanath Babu Chandran (born 11 August ), better known by his stage nameEdavela Babu, is an Indian actor who appears in the Malayalam cinema. He made his acting debut in with Idavela, from which he got his stage name.[1] Since then, he has worked in over films. Babu has served as General Secretary of Association of Malayalam Movie Artists (AMMA).[2][3] Currently, he is a part of the Indian National Congress political party.

    Babu was born on 11 August to Raman and Shantha at Irinjalakuda in Thrissur district of Kerala.[4] He completed his schooling from Govt. Model Boys Higher Secondary School, Irinjalakuda. He was graduated in Commerce from the Christ College, Irinjalakuda. He is also a postgraduate in Commerce.[5]

    Biography:

    ’Edavela Babu’ was born to Late (Retd. Administrative Assistant Kerala Police Dept) and Santha Raman ( Teacher, Govt High School) on 11th August  at Irinjalakuda in Thrissur District of Kerala. He did his High Schooling at Govt. Model Boy's High School, Irinjalakuda and then took his degree from Christ College, Irinjalakuda.

    During his school days he actively participated in all extra curricular activities and won many prizes and was also the recipient of a scholarship, being first in Folk Dance in the 17th State School Youth Festival, During college days he kept the same spirit and won 1st Place in the years, 81, 82, Representing Christ College, Irinjalakuda for Dance Competition in the Calicut Univers
