    MasterChef India is an Indian Hindi-language competitive cooking reality show based on MasterChef Australia and is part of MasterChef India.[1] Produced by Endemol Shine, it premiered on 16 October on Star Plus.[2]

    MasterChef India initial rounds consist of many contestants from across India individually auditioning by presenting a dish before the three judges to gain one of 50 semi-final places.

    The semi-finalists then compete in several challenges which test their food knowledge and preparation skills. In Season 1 and 2, the top 50 competed until 12 were left, with the final 12 progressing to the main stage of the show. The winner competes for a prize that includes their own cookery show, the chance to have their own cookbook published, and ₹ 1,00,00, in cash.

    MasterChef India is an Indian competitive cooking game show franchise based on the Australian show MasterChef Australia, which itself is based on the original British television show MasterChef.[1]MasterChef India – Hindi (Season 1–4) and Junior Masterchef Swaad Ke Ustaad were produced by Colosceum Media.[2][3]Endemol Shine India has been producing MasterChef India – Hindi since season 5 onwards through Star India and Sun TV Network with Innovative Film Academy co-producing it for other language versions.[4][5]Sony Pictures Networks have purchased the rights of the franchise and has been producing the show in all the three languages since then. The show has since been premiered on SonyLIV.

    It was originally started in Hindi language and has been extended to three languages spoken in the Indian sub-continent, including Tamil and Telugu.[6]
