Chet Parlavecchio Named to Essex County Football Coaches Hall of Fame

For Chet Parlavecchio, he’s lived a wonderful football life.
The year-old Parlavecchio was officially inducted into the Essex County Football Coaches Hall of Fame on Tuesday, May 11 at Calandra’s Italian Village in Caldwell.
The honor is apropos, for as a Head Coach he rescued a storied Essex County gridiron program from a crushing winless streak and two years later had them in the state playoffs.
Parlavecchio grew up in both Irvington and later West Orange, played football for Seton Hall Prep and Penn State, was drafted by the Green Bay Packers of the National Football League, and played for them and the St. Louis Cardinals until a severe knee injury ended his playing days.

Football: Passaic Valley camp turns to professional help
LITTLE FALLS - Chet Parlavecchio sat in his office in the basement of Passaic Valley High School following the successful return of his three-day camp for high school players. He looked a little tired, but the energy level and excitement of the camp's success clearly overshadowed any fatigue.

It was the first time Parlavecchio had hosted the event at Passaic Valley in 18 years and the first camp for Chet since , his last season at Clifton High School as that school's head football coach. The weather helped, too, with overcast skies on Saturday keeping the temperatures down a bit and Sunday morning's final session held under sunny, but much less humid conditions than had been the story for most of last week.
