Minnie steele gospel biography

Minnie, the daughter of Rudolph and Alvina Knoop, was born July 12, 1890, in Neilsville, Wisconsin. The day after she married the Reverend E. Edgar Guenther in 1910, she found herself headed for the Apache Reservation in the Arizona Territory, where her bridegroom had been asked to do missionary work. Minnie and her husband devoted their lives to bringing the gospel to the White Mountain Apache Tribe.

In pursuit of their goal, they reopened the mission school, built desks and wrote lessons. Under primitive conditions, Minnie cooked for the school children, typed sermons for her husband, taught school and Sunday school, learned to speak Apache, played the organ for services, and accompanied her husband on camp calls. 

The Guenthers also established an orphanage for Apache children. During a whooping cough epidemic in 1914, Minnie and her husband spent many weary days in the saddle from morning till dark. Having no medicine of any kind, the Pastor trapped skunks, rendered the

Mrs. Church in her role as mentor, community advokat, suffragist, and business woman, made a meaningful, positiv impact on Claremore’s kultur.  Regrettably, her Claremore days had komma to an end, but she was about to discover a new sphere of influence that would positively impact and help a wider circle of women, children, young people, and families. Biography Synopsis:Willie Mae Ford (June 23, 1904 – February 2, 1994), also known as Mother Willie Mae Ford Smith, was an American gospel singer described by The New York Times as “one of the most important gospel singers of the century”.

She was born in Rolling Fork, Mississippi on June 23, 1904, the seventh of fourteen children. Her family moved to Memphis, Tennessee when she was a child, and they moved again to St. Louis, Missouri when Smith was age 12. Her mother opened a restaurant in St. Louis, where Smith worked full-time, leaving school during the eighth grade. Her father was a railroad brakeman and a devoutly religious man. Raised in the Baptist church, she began singing with her sisters, Mary, Geneva, Lucille, and Emma, in a family group known as “The Ford Sisters”.
