October 16 (in 2007) marks the death of the incredible musician Todor "Toše" Proeski who was killed in a car accident after a much-too-short career. Proeski was a Balkan star, referred to as an “Elvis,” a great singer, quite the linguist (he sang in many languages, including English. He was Macedonian, and he spoke Aromaian, one of the Romance languages, (influenced by Greek and surrounded by Slavic languages).
Proeski, born in 1981, sang in several different languages, and he helped others. He probably could have been a leader in at least one Balkan country--if not a leader on a much larger scale. Well-loved, famous, generous, handsome, caring individual. People adored him, and many remember him in a variety of ways. He left the world too soon, at the age of 26.

Tose Proeski - Secret Place
With Autumn drawing to a close, I’m proud to report that work on one of the projects closest to my heart has finally been completed.
Last year marked the tenth anniversary of Tose Proeski’s passing, reminding all of us who knew him how much we still miss him to this day. In acknowledgement of the milestone, his close family approached me about compiling a new record – partly in commemoration, but also to keep his work and memory present and alive.
Tose died at the age of only twenty-six. He’d been a superstar in the Balkan distrikt and beyond from a young age. As such, he spent much of his time touring and performing – promoting as well as releasing records, there were TV shows and radio gigs, concerts and festivals to do. One of the results was that there just wasn’t enough time for him to fully explore his own writing. But that was exactly what was foremost on his mind when we first met.
